I’ll probably move this to a FAQ at some point when I get around to it, but after posting about single barrel selects and bourbon store picks earlier this year I started getting questions about various brands and their store pick offerings. Among these, a few folks asked if Michter’s Distillery did single barrel store picks. After all, Michter’s Single Barrel Bourbon and Michter’s Single Barrel Rye offering come in many shapes and sizes… why not have a barrel pick? The simple answer, however, is no: Michter’s does not offer a barrel pick program. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get a special bottle.
Michter’s Single Barrel
Michter’s Single Barrel bourbon and rye are increasingly popular options. Even the small batch expressions of their mash are great daily drinkers. If you’re looking for a Michter’s Store Pick, though, you won’t find one. Michter’s doesn’t have a single barrel selection program like most distilleries, but they do have a lot of single barrel options, including:
- Michter’s Single Barrel Rye
- Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
- Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Rye
- Michter’s Barrel Strength Bourbon
- Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye
There are also various expressions of all of these… like Michter’s Toasted Barrel Strength Rye, or 20, 25, and even 30 year versions of their bourbon and rye.

Michter’s Fill your Own Bottle
Of course, if you’re looking for something totally unique you can make a trip to Kentucky and visit the Michter’s Distillery. There, you can schedule special tours that include whiskey tastings, as well as the opportunity to fill your own bottle of Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye. So even though you can’t get an entire barrel selection, you can play a part in filling a bottle, with custom label, of unique Michter’s juice. This experience is definitely on my whiskey bucket list, even if it’s not a Michter’s Barrel Pick
Michter’s Barrel Picks
I’m still holding out hope for a Michter’s barrel pick program in the future. Single barrel selections are the latest rage in Bourbon and Rye culture, and many distilleries are introducing great selection programs for stores, groups, or states to select great whiskey. It may not be long before Michter’s Distillery does the same.
In the meantime, maybe you can get your single barrel whiskey pick fix through some of these opportunities:
