Michter’s US1 Unblended American Whiskey

As of June 9th, 2020, Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey is officially on the price sheets in North Carolina.

Michter’s Unblended is a low proof whiskey (83.4 proof, 41.7% ABV) that’s been available across the country for several years. This small batch whiskey doesn’t quite meet the requirements of a bourbon, but it is close. According to Michter’s Distillery, the real difference is that the Unblended American Whiskey isn’t aged in new charred oak barrels. Rather, Michter’s uses whiskey soaked barrels instead.

Michter’s US*1 Unblended completes the lineup of the distilleries flagship small batch whiskeys, alongside the US*1 Rye and US*1 Bourbon.

Can you buy Michter’s Unblended American Whiskey in North Carolina?

According to NC ABC warehouse stocklist, North Carolinians should start seeing Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey on ABC store shelves starting in summer of 2020. North Carolina will sell it for $43.95 plus tax.

The Bourbon and Rye versions of the US*1 series are usually pretty easy to get your hands on (there’s no real shortage of stock). Ultimately, the same should be true for the Michter’s Unblended. At first, though, the novelty of this item in North Carolina will likely cause it fly off the shelf. If you have trouble finding it at first, be patient. It will eventually become more ubiquitous. We’ll update this page when it starts showing up in NC stores.

If you can’t wait and want to get your hands on it, you can find it above MSRP at 1877Spirits.com.
